In truth, BLDG 5 is exactly what it claims to be. The fifth building on a quiet property, nestled beneath the Perkins Road Overpass. Pay us a visit, however, and you’ll quickly learn there’s so much more to our story.
Our front façade, interior reclaimed walls and protected outdoor greenery have remained untouched to create a space where the past intermingles with nature and welcomes rustic design. Thoughtfully designed spaces—including a semi-enclosed patio marketplace, a private dining room and an outdoor deck with a hand-built bar—create a combined sense of openness and intimacy. The work of local artists and builders like TJ Black, Benjamin Bullins and Scott Distefano humbly display the spirit of Baton Rouge’s creative community throughout the restaurant.
“We wanted each piece to have soul, character and a story. It all matters—the food, the flavors, the lighting, the materials, the vibe—our focus is on the whole experience. It’s where we want to eat, it’s how we want to eat and it’s definitely what we want to eat.”
With the belief that the kitchen is the heart of any home, owners Brumby and Misti Broussard have poured their love into every detail of this restaurant. Each aspect of BLDG 5—the food, flavors and atmosphere—has been carefully curated to offer a welcoming and casual gathering space. As the Broussards like to say, “To put it simply, when you walk through our doors, you’re a guest in our home. We hope you enjoy!
